Homework Help

Make a firm decision that you are going to start doing your homework as soon as you get it and don’t allow anything else to get in the way of that decision. Remember the quicker you get the work done, the more time you will have to do what you want to do.

Successful Students' Guide: Submit Homework On Time

Do you have a habit of waiting until the last minute to start your homework? And then stay up all night drinking coffee regretting your decision not to start it earlier. If this sounds like you then read this guide on how to submit your assignments in when they are due and still have time to socialize on facebook and sit in front of the TV.

  1. Get organized
  2. Choose a quiet study area that is free from all distractions, this includes the phone, TV and radio. You also want to avoid a busy area because too much background noise will cause you to lose focus. Make sure that you have all the supplies that you need, notebooks, books, stationary and anything else that you feel you will need to complete your work successfully.

Sit at a desk, avoid doing your homework somewhere that is too comfortable such as a bed or a sofa, you will be tempted to fall asleep. Make sure that the area you choose to study is well lit; dim lights will make it difficult to focus on your assignment.

  3. Prioritize your work
  4. There are some assignments that are going to be more important than others so set yourself a list of priorities:

    • High Priority: This list will include work that you have to turn in the following day or work for subjects that you find difficult. This category should be done first while your focus is strongest.
    • Medium Priority: This list will include work that you maybe have a couple of days to complete as well as larger research projects. Make sure that you work towards completing these assignments every day.
    • Low Priority: This list should include subjects that you are confident in, and you know you can get the work done easily.
  5. Build a routine
  6. Everyone has a method of studying that they are most comfortable with. Find out what yours is and stick to it. You might work better before dinner; you might work better first thing in the morning.

  7. Keep an eye on the time
  8. When you are studying always ensure that you have a clock handy. You will need to pace yourself so that you can complete your work on time.

    Breaks

In order to be more productive you will need to take breaks in between your study times. For every hour of study, take a 15 minute break. Get up walk around and stretch your legs before getting back to your assignment.

  9. Practice
  10. Students often hand in homework late because the subject is their weak area and so they delayed the work until the last minute. If you spend time practising the subject areas that you are not confident in you will eventually get better. Designate some study time each day to practising the subjects that you find difficult.

Rewards

Anytime you finish an assignment give yourself a reward. The reward might be to go shopping, or out to a movie, whatever you feel that you deserve treat yourself to it. Treating yourself after tasks will help you to stay motivated.

Stop Procrastinating

One of the main reasons why students are not able to submit their assignments on time is that they spend too much time doing what they are not supposed to be doing. Checking emails, talking on the phone, anything to avoid getting on with the task at hand.
